5.2-GHz CMOS HIPERLAN Transceivers

چکیده
This paper describes the design of a CMOS frequency synthesizer targeting wireless local area network applications in the 5-GHz range, with emphasis on the HIPERLAN standard. Based on an integer-N architecture, the synthesizer produces a 5.2-GHz output as well as the quadrature phases of a 2.6-GHz carrier. Fabricated in a 0.4m digital CMOS technology, the circuit provides a channel spacing of 23 MHz at 5.2 GHz while exhibiting a phase noise of 115 dBc/Hz at 2.6 GHz and 100 dBc/Hz at 5.2 GHz at 10-MHz offset. The reference sidebands are at 50 dBc at 2.6 GHz and the power dissipation from a 2.6-V supply is 47 mW.

A 5.3 GHz low voltage CMOS frequency divider whose modulus can be varied from 220 to 224 is presented. Programmability is achieved by switching between different output phases of a D flip-flop (DFF). An improved glitchfree phase switching technique through the use of a retimer circuit is introduced. A high speed low voltage DFF circuit is given. The programmable divider fabricated in m technolo...

Abstract—A novel compact printed antenna for dual band applications is presented. The antenna consists of two monopole elements and operates within the ISM 2.4 GHz and 5.2/5.8GHz frequency bands. The proposed antenna provides a bandwidth of 403 MHz (2.184 GHz–2.587GHz) in the lower frequency band and 4004 MHz (3.880 GHz–7.884 GHz) in the upper frequency band, respectively. Thus, it can cover mu...

A monolithic 5.2-GHz single-ended-in and single-endedout Gilbert upconverter with balanced operation is demonstrated using 0.18m deep n-well CMOS technology. The fully matched Gilbert upconverter has conversion gain of 11.5 dB and OP1dB of 19 dBm when input IF 300 MHz, LO 4.9 GHz, and output RF 5.2 GHz. The IF input return loss is better than 14 dB for frequencies up to 7 GHz, while RF output r...
